Rahu is not the actual planet but is an imaginary planet. According to Indian mythology, Rahu represents the head of a demon. Rahu is responsible for Solar eclipse. Rahu is a node that is positioned where the earth's trajectory around the Sun and the Moon's trajectory around the Earth meet. Rahu doesn't rule any zodiac. Rahu is a snake that swallows the sun or the moon causing eclipses. According to legend, during the Samudra manthan, the asura Rahu drank some of the divine nectar, sitting between the Sun and Moon Gods. Rahu disguised himself as God but Sun and Moon both the Gods came to know the reality of Rahu's disguise, and revealed it to Lord Vishnu. Before the nectar could pass his throat, Enraged Vishnu cut the head of Rahu. Since the nectar had reached Rahu's neck by then, the head survived, while the rest of the body turned to ashes. Later the rest of the body was revived and was named Ketu. Rahu's negative influence will be reduced when we worship Lord Hanuman.

• Worship Bhairava or lord Shiva.
• Recite the Kalabhairav asthakam.
• Japa of the Rahu beeja mantra: "Om bhram bhreem bhroum sah rahave namah", 18000 times in 40 days.
• Recite the Rahu stotra: "Ardha Kaayam maha veryam chandraditya vimardhanam Simhika garbha sambhutam tam rahum pranamamyaham"
• Donate: Udad dal or coconut on Saturday.
• Fasting on Saturdays.
• Pooja: Bhairav or Shiva or Chandi pooja.
• Wear An 8 mukhi Rudraksha.
• One of the best remedies for rahu is reciting the first chapter of Durga Saptasati.
• Rahu's favourite gemstone: Hessonite.
• Rahu's favourite color: Blue, Black.

Ardakayam mahaviryam chandraditya vimardanam

singhika garba sambootam tam rahum pranamamyaham.

Meaning : I offer my obeisance’s to Rahu who was born from the womb of Singhika and who has only half a body yet possess great power, being able to subdue the Sun and the Moon.
