Hindu Devotional Bhajan : Vaishnav jan to

Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye,
je peed paraaee jane re...
Par dukkhe upkar kare toye,

man abhiman na aane re...

He is the true Vaishnava who knows and feels another's woes as his own. Ever ready to serve others who are unhappy, he never lets vanity get to his head.

SakaL lok maan sahune vande,
nindaa ne kare keni re...
Vaach-kaacch-man nischaL raakhe,

dhan-dhan janani teni re...

Bowing to everyone humbly and criticising none. He keeps his speech, deeds and thoughts pure; blessed is the mother who begets such a one.

Sam-drushti ne trishnaa tyaagi,
parastree jene maat re...
Jihvaa thaki asatya na bole,

par-dhan nava jhaale haath re...

He looks upon all with an equal eye. Having rid himself of lust, he treats and reveres every woman as his mother. His tongue would fail him if he attempted to utter an untruth. He does not covet another's wealth.

Moh-maayaa vyaape nahin jene,
dradh vairagya jena manmaa re...
Raam-naam shu taale laagi,

sakal teerath tena tanmaa re...

The bonds of earthly attachment hold him not. His mind is deeply rooted in renunciation. Every moment he is intent on reciting the name of the Lord Rama. All the holy places are ever present in his body.

Vana lobhi ne kapat rahit chhe,
kaam krodh nivaarya re...
bhane Narsaiyyon teno darshan karta,

kul ekoter tarya re.

He has conquered greed, deceit, passion (lust) and anger. The sight of such a Vaishnava, says Narsinh, saves a family through seventy-one generations.

Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye is a very popular Hindu Devotional Bhajan from Gujarat. It was composed by the Gujarati poet-saint Narsinh Mehta in the 15th century.

The bhajan reads in the Gujarati (Western Indian language) as :

Vaishnav jan to tene kahiye Video

Some Comment at YouTube about this Video :
  • This Bhajan was written by Narsinh Mehta who is a social vaishnav (man) having wife and a daughter until he dead. This Bhajan he wrote based on his personal experiences. There is one line in this Bhajan which is - Dradh vairaagya jena man maan re [Means Who(Vaishnav) having strong mentally detachment to worldly things]. Now while Mehta's daughter's marriage he don't have even a single penny in his home since he was true vaishnav dedicated to his God. So God personally came and handled his daughter's marriage. Moral is if you have attachment with worldly things (materialistic) then all the things like depression, anger, question of survival will be there. According to the science permanent cure of any problem is the elimination of the root cause of the problem.

  • Makes me feel peaceful... And reminds me of the Great Mahatma everytime I Iisten to this...
